In Stadtbredimus lies the headquarters of the Domaines Vinsmoselle, a cooperative that was founded over 50 years ago. André Mehlen, the new director, introduced us here to the most important brands as well as the new wines of the cooperative, which are of course also represented on Letzshop.lu.
Please introduce yourself
My name is André Mehlen and I studied microbiology at the Technical University of Munich. After my doctorate, I worked in research for two years. I worked as a wine inspector at the Viticulture Institute for more than 15 years, and so I know my professional environment very well. On 1 February, I took over the position as director of the Domaines Vinsmoselle.
The Domaines Vinsmoselle cooperative was founded over 50 years ago.
Domaines Vinsmoselle is an association of several local cooperatives. The first cooperative was founded more than 100 years ago, namely in 1921 by Paul Faber in Grevenmacher. As the founding president, he is also the godfather of our famous Poll Fabaire brand. In 1966, the wineries of Greveldingen, Grevenmacher, Remerschen, Stadtbredimus and Wellenstein merged to form the Domaine Vinsmoselle. The last cooperative winery to join was the Wormeldingen winery.
The most important brands of the cooperative
As the Domaines Vinsmoselle were instrumental in the introduction and establishment of Crémant de Luxembourg in 1991, Poll Fabaire is naturally one of our most important brands.
Les Vignerons des Domaines Vinsmoselle is our classic still wine line. In addition, there is the Edmond de la Fontaine line, which is mainly made up of Pinot noir wines, in the form of white, rosé or red wines.
Our premium products are marketed under the name Vignum. Here the customer finds only wines from our best vineyards. These products are strictly limited. Our Crémant Vignum, for example, is stored on the yeast for more than 40 months (the legal requirement is 9 months) before it is marketed.

What is important to you when growing wine?
It is important that we get high-quality grapes into the cellars. But I have complete trust in our winegrowers. They don’t spend a whole year in the vineyards for nothing. The issue of sustainability is also becoming more and more important. We will continue to give priority to this issue in the future.
