Please introduce yourself
We are Paul Mathes and Jean-Paul Hoffmann and since January 2005 we have been running the Mathes winery, which was founded in 1907 by Jean-Pierre Mathes. At that time, the ‘Domaine’ had 2,8 ha of vineyards. Today, it comprises 8 ha of vineyards, most of which are planted with Riesling. The rest of the vineyards are divided between the other noble grape varieties such as Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
You also offer a wide range of ‘crémants’.
Exactly. ‘Crémant’ is based on healthy, aromatic grapes with an invigorating acidity that is favoured by the geographical location of Luxembourg’s wine-growing region. We have white crémants in our range but also a rosé crémant.

Definitely the ‘Crémant Gëlle Fra’, which we created for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the ‘Gëlle Fra’. This ‘Crémant’ bottle is decorated with a very beautiful and special artwork painted by Gigi Bibs Biberich.
