When photography meets colour

Sophia Rein is a painter and photographer who lets herself be inspired by the atmosphere of the cities and landscapes that surround her. Her art is an escape, and with her particular technique she transforms the world in her own way.

Creating her own universe

Born into a family of painters and photographers, art was omnipresent. It wasn’t until she was an adult that she decided to completely change her life to embrace her vocation. ‘I wanted to live my work to the full and work to live to the full,’ explains Sophia Rein.

A bridge between reality and imagination

With her art, she creates the world in her own way, embellishing it and making it more colourful so that everyone can dive into it to recharge their batteries. For her, photography and painting are essential to each other to create the balance she seeks, and to create the contrast needed to enhance each other.

The magic of Christmas

Her inspiration comes from Cubism, Art Deco (to name but two movements), big cities and their urban life (terraces, crowds, lights, shops…), architecture, fashion, design, fabrics, Moorish culture, bohemian culture and style. ‘In a way, everything and everyone I meet has an influence on my work,’ she explains. As the year draws to a close, she’s taking pictures of luminous, fairytale moments from urban landscapes, and reworking them with her special photo-painting technique to eternalise the magic of Christmas.
