A history that goes back centuries…

At the beginning of the 20th century, a small flour mill in the charming village of Ahn on the Moselle became the ‘Clos Mon Vieux Moulin’. Eleven generations later, the Duhr Frères winery still exists. The new vintage can be tasted here or ordered directly at Letzshop.

Please introduce yourself

My name is Luc Duhr and since 2005 I have been the manager and thus been responsible for the external operations and the administrative area of the Duhr Frères -Clos Mon Vieux Moulin winery in Ahn in the Moselle region.

Your winery has been in existence since the 17th century.

My cousin Frank, who is also the cellar master, and I are the 11th generation to run the business. Since our family bought the winery in 1689, it has been consistently developed towards top quality. Riesling, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir are our main grape varieties, which we cultivate on 14 hectares of our own vineyards.

What are the biggest changes since then?

Technical progress has made the physical work much easier. Thanks to climatic changes and the excellent training of some winemakers, wine quality has improved a lot in recent years. The enjoyment of high-quality wines is in vogue, which is why our offer is very attractive for the customer.

What do you focus on when making your wine?

At Duhr Frères, the emphasis is on a working method that favours beneficial insects, thanks to our well-trained team. Both in the vineyard and subsequently during vinification, we place great value on the time factor: our wines should be allowed to develop in peace.

Your novelty

There is not only one novelty, because each vintage brings us several exciting novelties. The very exclusive ‘Crémant Prestige Défi’, for example, is certainly one of the absolute highlights.

Your favourite wine

It depends on the mood, because there is a moment for every wine. In summer, I like to drink a fruity, elegant Riesling; in winter, I tend to enjoy a warming Pinot Noir or a Chardonnay from the wooden barrel.
